Kaela's focus on Blood Cancer Cures

Since her dad passed away from leukemia, Kaela has been laser-focused on learning more about blood cancer and finding more effective treatments and ultimately a cure. During her final 3 years of high school at Byram Hills in Armonk, she participated in the science research program and chose to study CAR-T cell therapy and applications in the treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Kaela was supported by her mentor at Weill Cornell Medical College who provided guidance and direction along the way, along with her teachers at school. In case you are interested to learn about her research, below is a link to a website she created to summarize her study and results.

Kaela loved doing this research so much, she decided focus her university studies in this area. In considering different universities, she found that Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) had a terrific Biology and Biomedical Sciences program. She applied and was accepted, so she is currently in Dublin studying hard (and also enjoying the other things that Dublin has to offer!!).
